My LocationTwo types of location: web server or current IP? The Distance-To service allows choosing from two types of location: web server and current IP. If you want for your visitors to see the distance to your site (more precisely, your web host), then the Web Server option is for you. It will take the IP address of your site (the domain on which the script is hosted) to calculate its geographical coordinates. This option is good if your web host is located next to you or if, for example, you are an Internet store or other setup which is represented primarily online and not at a "real" location. If you have a real, permanent geographic presence and you would like for visitors to see the distance to that point, then the Current IP option is for you. When creating the Distance-To button, by default your current IP address is taken. However, it can be replaced with any other one (for example, if you are not at your office right now or are making the button for somebody else). |

Smart EngineIntelligent calculation algorithms: how do they work? Distance-To calculates the distance between you and a visitor to your site. Your coordinates are determined based on My Location, while the coordinates of your visitors are based on IP address. The Distance-To service finds the shortest distance between two points on the globe. If the visitor is located in the U.S., Great Britain or New Zealand, the distance will be displayed in miles. Otherwise, it will be displayed in kilometers. |

Fast and LightHigh load performance: what about page load time? The Distance-To service works asynchronously. This means that all calculations are made while other webpage elements are loading, so that loading the Distance-To button will in no way slow down the total load time for your webpage. If for whatever reason it is impossible to calculate the distance, the Distance-To button will simply not be displayed. |

Private and SecureNo personal data collected Distance-To works only with IP addresses, it neither collects nor uses other visitor data. Moreover, the service works "on-the-fly," and does not save information about visits to your webpages. The Distance-To scripts are protected from hacking and cannot harm your site or its users. |

Ad-freeFree from banners and advertisements The Distance-To button does not contain advertising, it displays only information about the distance to you. |
